Our Inception
In 2019, POZ Impact was established as the inaugural radio program in Houston, devoted to supporting PLHIV, their loved ones, and allies. Two years later, in 2021, POZ Impact Mobile Mechanic was introduced to the public as a low-cost-effective automotive repair service, successfully aiding over 600 Houston residents with their vehicle repairs.
Our next goal is to establish a brick-and-mortar location. This location will house a mechanic shop for repairs and an office space for our operations. We also plan to offer office space for the community, as well as provide a space for HIV testing and awareness initiatives.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Josh has a passion for service. As the proprietor of the Houston-based pet care company, Paws with Benefits and the visionary behind Paws with Helping Hands (an organization that caters to the needs of animals whose owners require immediate medical attention), he has established himself as a leader in the local pet care industry.
In 2021, he started POZ Impact Mobile Mechanic, a cost-effective auto repair service, Josh is the creator and host of the POZ Impact Radio Show, Houston's pioneer radio program dedicated to issues affecting people living with HIV.
As a community activist, Josh serves many roles. He is the Co-Chair of Thomas Street Advisory Council, Treasurer of Acres Homes Super Neighborhood, and servers as a Board Member for the Houston Community Land Trust, he is also a proud member of the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus, Houston Livestock and Rodeo, Positive Women’s Network-USA Texas Strike Force and founding member of The Montrose Center Rising Leaders. In 2020, he was appointed by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to serve on the Houston Ryan White Planning Council, where he currently serves as Secretary. Josh Mica was selected to server on PWN Rapid Response Team monitoring the 88 Legislative Session here in Texas, additionally Josh Mica was horned with President Biden Volunteer Lifetime Achievement award in 2022.
